Day 2

Prompt:

In this activity, you will explore urban intervention precedents, brainstorm ideas for transforming a significant place, collaborate with peers to refine your concept, and craft a concise concept statement.

Materials:

  • Computer or tablet with internet access
  • Sketching materials (paper, pencils, markers)
  • Whiteboard and markers

Instructions

1. Precedents Research (20 min)

  • Navigate to the Resources tab and examine the provided urban intervention precedents.
  • Select three precedents that resonate with you and sketch the notable design elements from each.

2. Individual Brainstorming (5-10 min)

  • Independently brainstorm ideas for transforming a place that holds personal significance to you.
  • Consider how the chosen precedents could inform and inspire your ideas.

3. Class Share (5 min)

  • Share your individual ideas with the class.
  • The teacher will compile all ideas on the whiteboard, organizing them by category or theme.

4. Group Formation (2-5 min)

  • Based on shared interests and ideas, the teacher will assign partners for collaborative work.

5. Collaborative Brainstorming (10-15 min)

  • Collaborate with your partner(s) to merge individual ideas into a cohesive concept.
  • Sketch out the finalized idea together, integrating elements from each contribution.

6. Concept Statement (5 min)

  • Craft a concise concept statement summarizing your idea.
  • Be prepared to present your concept statement to the class in the next session.

Deliverables:
