CITY
MAKING
ACTIVITY MATERIALS
- Sturdy material for the 3D sculpture (thin cardboard, 180g paper).
- Cutting tools (scissors, craft knife, etc.)
- Ruler and pencil for measurements.
- Glue/tape (glue gun or craft glue)
- Laptop, Ipad, or Phone with internet
ACTIVITY PROMPT
You will use your mood board and AI tools to create abstract design patterns. These patterns will become part of your building’s final design — shaping how it looks on the outside or inside. You will then build it using 180g paper (thick paper used for watercolor painting)
1st
Look closely at your City mood board collage from the last activity. Find shapes, lines, and patterns that repeat.
Then, create an artwork using those elements. Your artwork should not copy the city directly, but instead turn it into something new and creative based on what you saw. This is called ABSTRACTION

Now apply your pattern to your building design.
Sketch your building, using the shapes and patterns from your artwork as inspiration for its form, surface, or structure.
Example: The museum we have previously designed could take inspiration from the following patterns and shapes to create this design

City Making
You will transform city-inspired abstract shapes and patterns into a 3D cardboard structure. By cutting, assembling, and adding patterns, you'll turn flat designs into a tactile, three-dimensional model.
