Welcome to 2030 Wordcraft
For the next two weeks, we’ll be doing a series of fun activities all about the city of Riyadh. You’ll learn about its history, explore what makes it special, and imagine what it could look like in the future. You’ll go on a city hunt, sketch your ideas, take photos, and build your own model of a place you’d love to see in Riyadh one day.
For your project, you’ll each design a unique piece of the city—a building, space, or invention that helps improve life in Riyadh. Inspired by Vision 2030, your creation will be part of a big collaborative model of the city.
Let's learn about Riyadh!

Research about Vision 2030 projects to find inspiration for your project :
Oxagon, Trojena, Red Sea Project, Qiddiya, King Salman Park, Diriyah Gate, Green Riyadh, and more ... (avoid projects that are big scale, like the Line, as those include multiple projects). To make sure the project you selected works, it should fall under one of those categories (Cultural & Historical, Environmental & Green Spaces, Tourism & Entertainment, Urban Development & City Life, Entertainment, Industrial, Sports, ...)

Pick a Vision 2030 project (like Qiddiya, King Salman Park, etc.), and explore the “why, what, and how” behind it. The goal is to understand its purpose, design, and future possibilities.
Tips for Good Research:
- Start on the official Vision 2030 website or project websites
- Search for project name + concept design / renderings
- Look for video tours, interviews, or drone footage — they reveal a lot!
- Take notes and save 2-3 images that inspire your design

Questions you could answer on a piece of paper or on a word document:
1. What is the main purpose of this project?
- What type of project is it? (cultural center, transportation system, tower...)
- Who is it designed for (locals, tourists, families, businesses, etc.)?
2. What are the main elements or features?
- Is it indoor/outdoor, large/small, urban/natural?
- Are there any unique materials, shapes, or designs?
How is it connected to sustainability or innovation?
- Is the project eco-friendly? How?
- Does it use new technology (AI, renewable energy, smart systems)?
