WHY WE ARE DOING IT
Learning basic of electronics
By learning electronics, you will learn how to integrate technology into your project
ACTIVITY PROMPT
Understand how light and shadow work by creating a real-life “shadow map” using a flashlight and objects.
ACTIVITY MATERIALS
- A flashlight (or desk lamp)
- A small object (like a toy figure, paper house, or block)
- A white surface or large sheet of paper (as your “ground”)
- A pencil or marker
- Optional: tracing paper, ruler, different color markers

Warm-Up Prompts:
- What kinds of shadows do you see around you? What do they look like — a monster, a tree, a dancer?
- What happens when objects overlap or when you angle the light?
Mini-Challenges:
- "Make a shadow that looks like a creature."
- "Combine 3 objects to create a shadow of something unexpected."
- "Create a shadow that tells a mood (mysterious, joyful, scary)."
Let them experiment and play — this gives them material for inspiration.
1st
- Add your batteries in your battery holder
- Connect your LED to the battery pack
2nd
(If your battery pack wires end with "male" terminals, connect "female/female" &
if your battery pack wires end with "female" , connect male/female wires to your LED)
Pick a theme for your sculpture, and think about how it could be used at night - maybe while you're studying, reading, or just chilling in your room:
- Can this sculpture give a soft calming glow?
- Can it light up a small area where i read or do homework?
- Could be a decoration that makes your room feel more me?
Think of shapes from nature, your favorite characters or cool origami templates
3nd
Sketch your sculpture idea
How would you like your sculpture to look like?
- If you are looking to represent a character your like, maybe think of a rectangle box with a cutout shape that lights ups?
- Want to explore a shape your like? Look for an origami style or pattern design that you can research a template for and print.
4th
Select your material!
- Think of your design and what would work best, here are some ideas: Thick paper, corrugated carboard, foam sheets, tracing paper, wax paper, tissue paper, colored acetate, bubble wrap, dried leaves, fabric, wool string, pipe cleaners.

DELIVERABLES
- Your final product should be a functioning LED lighting circuit that meets the project's expected behavior.
- You should document your work at the end and present it to the class
Prompt
In this activity, we will learn how to build a simple circuit with an LED and create an everyday sculpture you can place in your room that integrates it.
Deliverables
- Quick sketch of your sculpture idea (Note where the LED and battery will go)
- Write 1–2 sentences explaining how it can be used
- Photos of your lit sculpture in a dark space
